Important Account Security Warning

Recently there have been reports of alleged cases of fraudulent use of Internet accounts in Phnom Penh. According to the reports, people allegedly gain access to the service by using a customer's username and password. We suspect that account information, which is illegally obtained, is collated together by groups who then sell the lists around Phnom Penh.

Our investigations show that information about your personal account access can be obtained in the following ways:
A friend, or someone known to you passing on your username and password.
Through physical access to files in your PC.
Accessing your PC while you are not in attendance.
Extraction of your account information, when using some of the public Internet facilities around Phnom Penh.

The story highlights the need to keep your password confidential at all times. The only way to gain access to your account is by logging onto BigPond with your username and password. We suggest the following simple precautions:
- Do not tell anybody your password.
- Change your password regularly using BigPond's online account management page.(see below)
- Choose passwords that are difficult to guess. Include letters and numbers.
- BigPond support engineers will ONLY ask you for your password when you request us to download or to delete messages for you. We urge you to change your password after this task has been completed.
- If ANYONE has had unsupervised access to your computer, we suggest you change your password.
- We urge you to change your password after using public Internet facilities.
Please note the BigPond office provides secure facilities to change your account password and access your account in the event that your PC is not available.

Be reminded that your BigPond customer contract clearly states that the account holder is responsible for all charges associated with access to the account. Access to your account can only occur through the use of your username and password.

If a situation arises where you have forgotten your password, our staff will need to confirm your identity before issuing you a new password.

How do I change my password?
There are three steps to changing your password.
