• How to configure proxy set up on your machine
  You may sometimes see this message when visiting a web page, "HTTP proxy error - host not found or Internal Authentication error." If it happens, simply click the Refresh button on the Internet Explorer tool bar and the page should appear. If it does not, then it is likely that the address of the page is incorrect. To configure the "Web Proxy Aut o Discovery " (WPAD), which make it possible to automatically configure the proxy setup
  • For IE 5.5: go to proxy setup and click "Automatically detect settings"
  • For IE 4: check where it says"Use automatic configuration script" and enter the following URL http://wpad.bigpond.com.kh/wpad.pac
  • For Netscape, there is a similar dialog box called "Automatic Proxy Configuration", enter under URLhttp://wpad.bigpond.com.kh/wpad.pac
  
  
• Dial up problem under Windows Operation System
  If you regularly receive the error message like "unable to negotiate connection, and try again …." when trying to connect to BigPond on your Windows 95/8 machine, try slowing the modem down.
  To do this: click on My computer => Dialup Networking, Highlight the Telstra BigPond Cambodia icon, Right click on the mouse then click properties and select the modem tab. In this window there is a selection field where you can set the modem speed. If your modem is a 33.600kbps or 56.300bps modem set the speed to 38,400bps or 56.500bps.

4. Prevent Fraud / Password Protection

We would like to remind you that your account can only be accessed using your username and password and you are responsible for all charges associated with this access. Therefore, it is important that you take extra care that you protect your password. There continues to be a growing number of cases of fraudulent use of Internet accounts in Phnom Penh. Sometimes customer passwords are passed on in good faith, in other cases the password has been extracted from the user's computer or via special software programs installed in some WEB café computers.

We suggest the following simple precautions to reduce the likelihood of your account being frauded:
- Do not tell anybody your password.
- Change your password regularly using BigPond's online account management page.
- Choose passwords that are difficult to guess include letters and numbers.

Change your password immediately following any of these events:
- If ANYONE has had unsupervised access to your computer, this includes ANY computer technicians.
- After accessing your BigPond account from web cafés in Phnom Penh.
- At your request, you have given BigPond support engineers your password to download or to delete messages for you.

Note that BigPond office provides private, secure facilities at the office for customers to change their passwords. The Bigpond staff can guide you through the process. You can also change password on line, if you prefer. You can make it a regular practice to change your password every time you come to the office to pay your account.
