Now BigPond is connected by a 256k link to Sydney and from there directly to the West Coast of America, as well as to several Asian destination. This is four times the capacity we started out with in June 1997 and demonstrates, we believe, a committment to invest in the infrastructure necessary to continue to provide a high quality service.

Portals

What is a Portal ? Answer - A recent development on the Web, portals are web sites that allow you to customise the contents for your own personal taste and interests. So you might be offered a choice of news feeds, weather updates for your region, currency conversion, stock quotes, calendar of events and your horoscope of the day. Tidying Up your Email Folders

Most Microsoft email programs require a little bit of maintenance to stop the message store from becoming very large.
* In Internet Mail and news select the File -> Folder -> Compact - > All Folders option to get rid of wasted space.
* If you use MS Inbox or Outlook choose Tools, Services and then the Personal Folders item. Then click the Compress button.
* In Outlook Express select File -> Folder -> Compact All Folders

Missing Attachments

If you find you are not receiving attachments within messages from certain people it is probably because they are using Microsoft Inbox or Outlook 97/98. They need to ensure that they are not using the MS Exchange Format to send as this is not supported by many other email programs.

Email Viruses

We have had many warnings about email viruses. In most cases we believe these to be hoaxes and so do not pass them on to our customers. In fact, the warning becomes a nuisance when everyone copies the warning to everyone else and this has been known to crash networks. To help avoid email virus's do not open attachments from unknown senders. Two interesting sites and http://www.kumite.com/myths give more information about viruses and the myths that surround them.
