Welcome to the first of the BigPond Cambodia Newsletters. We will be emailing all members a copy of this newsletter each month to keep you up-to-date with developments at BigPond.
For the next 3 months both standard and casual plan users will be receiving an additional 2 hours on their accounts each month. Thus casual users will have 4 free hours and standard users will have 8 free hours. The free hours will be credited to your account on your next billing date after 1st October. You can check how many hours you have from the account management pages.
For customers who connect to BigPond for longer periods we have introduced a new price plan. For $120 per month the
plan provides 15 hours of access. Additional hours are charged at $6 per hour. This plan has the same registration costs and
deposit as the standard plan.
You can change to this plan using the account management pages on our Web Site or by contacting us at the office.
If you are using Win95 and the MS Internet Mail program distributed with the BigPond starter kit you can take advantage of the automatic disconnect feature. To enable it, start the Internet Mail program, select the Mail menu item followed by Options. Then select the Connection tab. Tick the option labeled “Disconnect when finished sending and receiving”. Now, after you have connected to BigPond from Internet Mail and downloaded your email, the program will automatically hang up the phone.
Start MS Internet Mail, and select the Mail menu item followed by Options. Select the Sever tab and then click the Advanced Settings... button. In this window there is a box labeled "Reply To :". This should have your email address - i.e. john@bigpond.com.kh.
In the same way that the email program can be set to disconnect from the internet after sending and receiving email, MS Internet Explorer can also be set to disconnect when it detects that there is no activity. Start the Internet Explorer, select the View menu item followed by options. Select the connection tab and check the option labeled “Disconnect if idle for more than …minutes”. It is suggested that you set the time in the box to about 10 - 20 minutes.
You will sometimes see this message when visiting a web page for the first time. If it happens simply click the Refresh button on the Internet Explorer tool bar. and the page should appear. if it does not then it is likely that the address of the page is incorrect.
Try the Yahoo search engine to find the information you are looking for - http://www.yahoo.com .
Microsoft have a good selection of pointers to web pages of interest. Click the "Best of the Web" button on the links toolbar.
Building your first web page is made easy with our Personal Homepage system. From the BigPond home page click the Personal Homepage button. You can create pages simply by working through the forms that are presented. No knowledge of HTML required !
Have you tried the account management pages yet ? From our home page select the Member Service page and then the Account Management page. (Alternatively you can click on the account management link directly on the main homepage.) After entering your Username and Password you will be presented with a page that enables you to :-
Monday to Friday 8 am. to 8 pm
Saturday 8 am to 12 pm (noon)
