There appears to be a growing number of cases of fraudulent use of
Internet accounts in Phnom Penh. Often the password has been passed on
in good faith, in other cases the password has been extracted from the
user's computer. We suggest the following simple precautions:
-> Do not tell anybody your password.
-> Change your password regularly using BigPond's online account
management
page.(see useful reminders below)
-> Choose passwords that are difficult to guess. Include letters and
numbers.
-> BigPond support engineers will ONLY ask you for your password when
you
request us to download or to delete messages for you. We urge you to
change
your password after this task has been completed. We also suggest that
customers use the WebMail facility if possible to delete messages.
-> If ANYONE has had unsupervised access to your computer, we suggest
you
change your password. This includes any computer technicians.
-> Never use your BigPond username / password in a web cafe in Phnom
Penh.
Your BigPond password is stored on our database in a one-way encrypted
format that cannot be accessed by anyone, including BigPond staff.
If a situation arises where you have forgotten your password, our staff
will
need to confirm your identity before issuing you a new password.
We have recently added another 30 dial-in lines so that customers should not be experiencing any busy signals when dialing in to Phnom Penh. The expansion of the main link to the Internet is now complete. The expansion represents a doubling of the bandwidth to 1 megabit and means faster downloads at all times of the day.
Last month we launched the new BigPond web site. It has been designed to make it easier to access the most-used features. Find the contact details for hundreds of businesses and organisations in the Business Directory, search for sites related to Cambodia in Hotlinks or contribute to the CambodiaTalk open forum !
During the upcoming Phhcum Ben Holiday BigPond will be open as follows:-
| date | Support | Payment |
| Wednesday 27th September | Closed | Closed |
| Thursday 28th September | Closed | Closed |
| Friday 29th September 8am-12noon 2pm-5pm | Open | Closed |
| Saturday 30th September 8am-12noon 8am-12noon | Open | Open |
BigPond has installed a dial-in server in Siem Reap. This provides full internet and email access via a local call and is accessible by all BigPond customers at the same connection charges as in Phnom Penh. Currently the number of dial-in lines is very limited but we are working with the phone line supplier Camintel to resolve this. The access number is 063 964700.
There are three steps to changing your password.
