MESSAGE of H.E. Mr. Gotaro OGAWA, Japanese Ambassador,
in Celebration of
of the Official Establishment of the Japan Alumni of Cambodia (JAC)
Dear Friends,
First of all, I would like to say "OMEDETOU", which means "congratulations" in Japanese, to the Japan Alumni of Cambodia (JAC) for its official establishment. As Japanese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia, I would say this is indeed one of the most brilliant events for me as well as for Japan and the Japanese community here.
Japan, including the government, NGOs and a lot of Japanese citizens, has been assisting the Cambodia's self-help efforts in the reconstruction, reforms and development of her nation. And now I see with my own eyes that Cambodia is starting to gather momentum forcibly to its end. In order not to lose this momentum, the Japanese Government, together with NGOs, other concerned organizations and individuals hand in hand, would like to support Cambodia continuously.
Cambodia always attracts the Japanese people by its deep-rooted culture, wonderful historical monuments, beautiful nature and above all, its warm and benign people. Thus, the Japanese people entertain a fond feeling to this country. The fact that many a Japanese, who had visited or worked here, returned to this country again in various ways testifies to it. Living in Cambodia, I myself always feel mentally and spiritually at ease and secured. Maybe Cambodia people and the Japanese have the chemistry that commons with each other.
I heartily welcome the birth of your Organization. I hope from the bottom of my heart that you, the many Cambodian young people, who studied in Japan, will join us as a partner in our common endeavours in further deepening the ties of friendship and strengthening cooperation between Cambodia and Japan. The Embassy of Japan and the Japanese community in Cambodia are looking forward very much to working together with you all.
