Inauguration Ceremony
of Four New School Buildings
at the Antung Sar Primary School
in Kang Meas District, Kompong Cham Province

This ceremony is to inaugurate four newly constructed school buildings at the Antung Sar Primary School, in Kang Meas District, Kompong Cham Province in the presence of H.E. Mr. HOR NAMHONG, Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and H.E. Mr. GOTARO OGAWA, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia.
The construction of these four new school buildings with three classrooms each in Antung Sar Primary School in Kang Meas District, Kompong Cham Province, including the supply of necessary school equipment such as blackboards, teachers' and students' desks and chairs, and the renovation of a building which was built in 1950 to be used as a library, was implemented by the Association of School Aid in Cambodia (ASAC). The Government of Japan funded the Project with US$ 65,340 through the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Projects called "KUSANONE" based upon the grant contract signed on February 21, 2002. It is expected that 18 teachers and 559 students will benefit from this project.
"KUSANONE" is Japan's grant aid to support small-scale, grass-roots projects by international and local NGOs and local authorities and is an important pillar of Japan's economic cooperation to Cambodia. Since its start in 1992, the total amount of US$ 13,771,412 KUSANONE grant has been provided to assist 225 projects in Cambodia to help Cambodian rehabilitation and development efforts at the grass-roots level.
