Grant Contract Ceremony
For the Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Projects
(KUSANONE)

The government of Japan has decided to provide, through its Japanese Grant Assistance for Grass-roots Projects scheme called "KUSANONE" (which means Grass-roots in Japanese) a total amount of US$ 88,110 to the following 3 projects. The Grant Contract will be signed between Mr. GOTARO Ogawa, Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan to the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Representatives of each recipient organization.
"KUSANONE" grant assistance started in Cambodia in 1992, in order to assist Cambodia's reconstruction and development efforts at the Grass-roots level. Up to the present time, including these 3 projects, a total amount of US$ 13,859,522 has been provided by the Government of Japan through the "KUSANONE" scheme to assist 228 international and local NGOs or local authorities' projects, especially in the education and health sectors. These 3 projects are the first projects which have been approved under the "KUSANONE" scheme in the Japanese Fiscal-year (April 2002~March 2003).

The Project to Support Medical Equipments for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department in Preah Ang Duong Hospital in Phnom Penh (US$ 31,610)
Recipient: Preah Ang Duong Hospital
Outline of the Project: This Project is to support Preah Ang Duong Hospital's department for Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT). It is to provide an operation microscope and equipment to the ENT department to extend ENT services and ENT education to post-graduates and doctors from the provinces. Cambodian people all over the country will benefit from this project.

The Project to Provide an Ambulance to Moung Russay Districtin Battambang Province (US$ 26,500)
Recipient: Moung Russay Operational District
Outline of the Project: This Project is to provide an ambulance to Moung Russay Operational District serving as emergency transportation in Moung Russay district, Battambang province. Through this project, 162,000 people in 133 villages in Moung Russay district will benefit.

The Project to Provide an Ambulance to Samlot District in Battambang Province (US$ 30,000)
Recipient: Emergency
Outline of the Project: This Project is to provide an ambulance to Samlot district serving as emergency transportation in Trasagn and O'Tatiek villages, Samlot district, Battambang province. This project will provide a 24-hour emergency transportation service in the district. 22,700 people in the above two villages will benefit from this project.
