  The MONBUKAGAKUSHO (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Government of Japan) offers scholarships to foreign students, including Cambodian youth, who wish to study at Japanese universities, college of technology and Senshu-gako (professional training school) for the academic year under the Japanese Government Scholarship program.

  2. Asian Youth Fellowship (AYF)

  Asian Youth Fellowship (AYF) is a scholarship by the Japanese Government through the Japan Foundation Asia Center, to give higher education to Asian University graduates. The objective of the program is to develop the human resources for the regional cooperation and development of the area, as well as to promote and enhance friendship and mutual understanding with Asian countries. Overall planning and implementation of AYF is under control of the Government of Japan. Preparatory education and training given in Malaysia is conducted by Asia Science and Education for Economic Development Institute (Asia SEED) under assignment by the Japan Foundation Asia Center.

  Qualifications for Applicants

Nationality: Cambodia
Age: under 35 at the time he/she proceeds to Japan.
Academic Background: University graduates with good academic record.
Field of Study: Humanities and Social Sciences (Japanese studies or Japanese Culture excluded). Engineering and Natural sciences are also encouraged.

 3. Grand Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS)

  The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia (MoEYS) offers scholarships (Human Resource Development Scholarship) under the Grand Aid Program (ODA) by the Government of Japan. This Program is to provide nationals of Cambodia with opportunities for academic research at Japanese universities (English Course) in order to facilitate the Royal Government's plans for Human Resource Development.

All applications should be submitted to JICE JDS Office by October 29, 2002.

Course and Requirements
  1. Master Course (20 candidates): Law / Economics / International Relations / Agriculture / Information Technology / Infrastructure Management
  2. Academic Background: Completed 16 years of school education or equivalent (as of April 1, 2003)
  3. Duration: 2-2.5 years course (depends on the accepting universities)
  4. Health: Be in good mental & physical condition
  5. Age: Under 35 years old as of April 1, 2003
  6. English Level: Advanced English language skills. TOEFL 500 / IELTS 5.5 is preferable.

 4. JIIA (the Japan Institute of International Affairs) Fellowships

  The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) has provided its fellowship programmes since 1989 to promote intellectual collaboration and mutual understanding between Japan and other countries and to provide young scholars with opportunities to conduct advanced research and intellectual exchange in Japan.

  Now, JIIA is accepting applicants for JIIA Fellowships for fiscal year 2003 in the field of international affairs.

All applications should be submitted to JIIA by November 15, 2002.

Eligibility
1. Applicants must be citizens of one of the following countries:
Asia Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam
Europe Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Yugoslavia.
2. Applicants must be at least Master degree holders/Ph.D. candidates or the equivalent
3. Applicants must be no more than 45 years of age.
4. Applicants must be a research fellow at a research institute or university, a journalist, or a government official, etc.
Research Themes
Principal research themes are international politics, foreign policy, security issues, international relations and international or development economics.
