WELA
(Women's Empowerment Through Legal Awareness)
The project's major development objectives are:
-
To develop women's skills as individuals and as
members of community structures, and to empower women to participate
as decision-makers in development activities at family, community,
local and national levels.
-
To support development initiatives that respond to
the needs of women and address community attitudes and social
structures that discriminate against women.

Each year, men around the world wear a white ribbon from
November 25th , International Day for Eradication of Violence
Against Women, until 10th December which is International Human
Rights Day. Wearing a white ribbon is your personal pledge never to commit
violence against women. It is a personal pledge not to condone acts of
violence, not to make excuses for perpetrators of violence, and not to
think that any woman "asks for it". It is a pledge not to remain silent.
It is a pledge to challenge the men around us to act to end violence.
Violence against women is, above all, a men's issue which men themselves
must address.
·
Stop all forms of
discrimination against women
· Stop
domestic violence
· Stop
sex trafficking
· Stop
rape and sexual
harassment
So please wear the white ribbon from 25th
November to 10th December, and speak out in order to eliminate
violence against women.
