Gender Awareness
This booklet has been prepared by Gender and Development for Cambodia as a basic resource text, which defines and explains the key terms and concepts, which surround the general topic of gender. Gender is a relatively new concept. It is a word that can arouse suspicion and resistance. These reactions usually result from misunderstanding about what gender really means. Understanding gender is important for all those who are working for national development whether they are community development workers employed by non-government organizations or teachers and other officials who are employed by the government. Tertiary level students should also find this small textbook a worthwhile reference. Gender and Development for Cambodia welcomes comments about the booklet. We hope that it can benefit discussion about why gender equity is important for both women and men.

Gender Policy
This is the second handbook which Gender and Development for Cambodia has produced to encourage gender awareness among those who work for national development, whether through government or non-government agencies, and especially among Cambodia's youth. This handbook is designed to assist organisations develop their own gender policies. This is not only because many donors insist on an organisation having a gender policy. Gender policy will assist the organisation to channel its human and material resources wisely; it will help the organisation focus on the guiding principles which brought the organisation into being in the first place; above all, it will constantly remind the organisation that any development intervention which does not have a clear gender perspective will result in bad development. Equity and social justice cannot be achieved unless women and men are equal partners in their creation. We hope that you find the handbook useful. We welcome any comments you may have about improving the content and format. We wish you success in drawing up your own gender policy.

Gender Mainstreaming
This is the third handbook produced by Gender and Development for Cambodia to encourage gender awareness among workers for national development, whether through government or non-government agencies, and especially among Cambodia's youth. This handbook builds on the concepts which were discussed in the "Gender Awareness Handbook" and on the "Gender Policy Handbook" and it is designed to assist agencies who are sincere in their efforts to address gender issues by explaining what gender mainstreaming means and why it helps development programmes achieve their goals. This small book also aims to assist gender focal points and other gender advocates to deal with the most common forms of official resistance to mainstreaming gender. We hope that you find the handbook useful. We welcome any comments you may have about improving its content and format.

Gender Indicator
This is the fourth handbook which Gender and Development has produced to encourage gender awareness among those who work for national development, whether through government or non-government agencies, and especially among Cambodia's youth. The previous handbooks are on the general terms and concepts related to gender analysis, writing a gender policy for an organization, and gender mainstreaming. This handbook studies indicators, specifically gender-sensitive indicators, which can allow development organizations, policy-makers and planners to define and measure the outcomes of those policies and plans. This handbook is only a beginner's guide. It provides key definitions, illustrations and exercises for reflection and practice to encourage efforts at gender analysis. We hope that you find the handbook useful. We welcome any comments you may have about improving the content and format.

Gender in TVET Gender and Development for Cambodia (GAD/C) conducted its research on girls in technical and vocational education at the beginning of 2002. The purpose of this study was to understand the attitudes of Cambodia people towards women studying these non- traditional skills, whether those attitudes were stereotypical and whether gender bias and discrimination were inherent in those attitudes. GAD/C whishes to thank The Asia Foundation and USAID for supporting this study. We are also grateful to all institutions, the directors, staff and students who gave their time, their opinions and recommendations and their interest to the research.
