NOTICE TO JOB SEEKERS

...IN THE HEALTH SECTOR IN CAMBODIA ONLY!

Given MEDiCAM staff’s work priorities, the former may not always be as available as they wished to be. Consequently, in order to better respond to your needs, we are posting below information that should respond to job seekers‘ most frequently asked questions. Please, read this notice carefully beforehand, and welcome to MEDiCAM!

MEDiCAM is the membership organisation for NGOs active in the health sector in Cambodia. This implies:

  1. That MEDiCAM accepts CVs ONLY from qualified HEALTH Professionals (both Cambodians and Expatriates), and NOT from other sectors professionals.
  2. MEDiCAM is not a private company, it is not an employment agency, not even a medical agency operating projects in the field. It is a MEMBERSHIP organisation that comprises over 90 agency-members with only a 5-staff secretariat.

Then, if you are indeed a Health Professional seeking a job in Cambodia, here is what we recommend, and what we can do for yourself.
What you can do:

  1. If you are in Phnom Penh, you may let a copy of your updated CV at the MEDiCAM office whenever you pass-by (you may hand it over to Mr.. Khun). Do not forget to put on the front page of your CV where we can contact you the easiest and the fastest (notably telephone and/or E-mail in Phnom Penh).
  2. If you are abroad, send your resume BY POST, attention: Ms. Phan Bopha, Office Manager. Please, note that MEDiCAM does not accept CVs and application letters sent by E-mail. The association will continue however to put CVs on display the latter are sent by post.
  3. On your resume: we recommend that you highlight with colour items that are deemed more likely to interest employers in Cambodia. Note that CV longer than 4 pages are rarely read.
  4. You may also introduce yourself briefly at our monthly conference (the "4M’s"), that is taking place every third Friday of each month, at 2:00 p.m., in the Conference Room of the World Vision Building (behind the Caltex station, at the crossroad of Monivong and Mao Tse Toung, see map below).

    What MEDiCAM will do:
  5. MEDiCAM will put your CV on display in a special folder that contains CVs of qualified Health Professionals seeking employment. The folder is available in permanence to agencies seeking personnel at the MEDiCAM office, and once a month at the monthly conference, where a large number of agencies are gathered. (Note that agencies do consult the CV folder when they look for qualified health staff).
  6. MEDiCAM also assist agencies and organisations in posting their Job Offers through the MEDiCAM Network: We therefore recommend Job Seekers to regularly consult the MEDiCAM newsgroups (billboards) "local.medicam" (on the Open Forum server network) or the "Bigpond.kh.MEDiCAM" (on the Bigpond server network). MEDiCAM also post those vacancies in the following electronic billboards: "local.jobs" (Open Forum server) and "Bigpond.kh.employment" (Bigpond server). Job Seekers are therefore invited to consult those electronic billboards. Note that they are for the moment only accessible locally though.
  7. All health–related job vacancies sent to MEDiCAM or collected from various sources, are also posted at the MEDiCAM secretariat in the "Job offers" folder, and on the billboard. Health Job Seekers may consult them whenever they wish without having to address MEDiCAM staff.
  8. Please, note that MEDiCAM simply RELAYS those Job Offers, but it is not the employer. Applicants should address their application letters DIRECTLY to the requiring agency, and not to MEDiCAM. MEDiCAM will not relay applications to employers.
  9. Finally, please note that this service is provided free and voluntarily by the MEDiCAM staff to job seekers, but it does not constitutes a mandated activity of the organisation. Thank you for your understanding and… good luck!
