What is SHARE Cambodia?
SHARE has been working in Cambodia since 1988. From 1988, SHARE conducted the RINE (Rehydration, Immunization, Nutrition, Education) projects with JVC (Japan International Volunteer Center). After the end of the RINE project, SHARE started the primary health program, which gave emphasis to mother and child health in Khsach Kandal district, Kandal province. In June 1998, after six and a half years, SHARE handed over projects to local people (health staff and villagers) and started the current program in Srey Santhor district, Kampong Cham province in July 1998.
Currently, 3 Japanese (one program coordinator, one health adviser (midwife), one administrator) and 10 Cambodian staff are working for the program, which includes health education to mothers, HIV/AIDS education in school, TBA (Traditional Birth Attendant) training, and so fourth.
